Dr. Allison completed her Bachelors of Science degree at Georgia State University in Atlanta and relocated to the greater Miami area with the intention of doing her graduate work in shark immunology. This career goal began to shift when she stopped to rescue an abandoned dog and her puppies near a turnpike toll stop one afternoon. Several rescued dogs and cats later, she began work at a veterinary specialty group/emergency room for several years before deciding to apply to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.
She graduated in 2006 and has been working in the Central Florida area since. Having nursed two of her own dogs with terminal illnesses, both of whom exhausted treatment options in traditional Western medicine, she sought alternative treatment modalities to help keep them comfortable and improve their quality of life. Inspired by her experience, she wanted to be able to offer this medicine to her own patients. In 2015 she started her studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Chi Institute in Reddick, FL. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture and is currently studying Traditional Chinese herbal medicine. With this training she is excited to be able to offer her patients the best of what both Western and Eastern medicine can offer through integrative veterinary medicine.
Dr. Allison lives in Lake Mary with four cats, a rescued Chiweenie, Nuno, and chihuahuas, Shorty and Lucille. In her free time, Dr. Allison and her partner, Warren, like to socialize with friends while taking in the local music scene. She has recently taken up yoga and Tai Chi, and Halloween is her favorite season.
